BILLINGS, Mont. -- Montana State Billings women's tennis head coach Lew Kosich announced Tuesday the signings of
Emily Paffhausen and
Kendyall Rochin to National Letters of Intent to play for the Yellowjackets beginning with the 2011-12 season.
"We are excited to sign Emily and Kendyall to play tennis at MSUB,” Kosich said. “Both had successful high school careers as Montana high school players, and are highly motivated to continue their tennis careers at the university level."
Dillon, Mont./Beaverhead County HS
Paffhausen joins the Yellowjackets after a successful prep career at Beaverhead County where she excelled in tennis and volleyball. She earned tennis all-conference honors three times (2009-2011) and was an all-state selection the past two years. She was also a two-time all-conference selection in volleyball during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
As a doubles player, Paffhausen won the Class 'A' Southwest Division title and then finished as runner-ups at the state tournament in 2011. She and her partner finished the year 20-1 in doubles play, earning all-state. She also finished runner-up in doubles at the state tournament in 2010.
During her time at BCHS Paffhausen helped the team to divisional tennis titles in 2008 and 2009. She helped the volleyball team to a divisional championship in 2010.
Off the courts she graduated with a 3.86 GPA and was ranked seventh in her class. She was a member of National Honor Society and earned academic all-state honors in tennis from 2008-2011 and volleyball from 2008-10. She plans to major in English Education.
Polson, Mont./Polson HS
Rochin was a three sport athlete at Polson High, playing volleyball, basketball and tennis. She earned multiple letters in each sport, but lettered all four years in tennis.
Her freshman season she earned the team's Outstanding Newcomer award and was an all-conference selection. That same season she helped Polson to the first of four straight divisional championships and the 2008 state title.
After helping Polson to a state runner-up finish as a junior in 2010, Rochin won the divisional singles title and finished sixth at the state 'A' tournament to become the first player from Polson to play at three straight state tournaments.
Rochin was an all-conference and all-state selection in her final three years of high school (2009-2011) and was also the team MVP in 2010 and 2011. She will major in nursing at MSUB and is a member of the USTA.
