BILLINGS, Mont.- The Montana State University Billings Women's Soccer team Defeated the University of Saint Martin's Saints 2-1 Saturday at Yellowjacket Field.

The Saints struck first in the 23rd minute when Jessica Christian took the ball down the right side of the field, passed it into the box to a striking Nikki Roberts who shot the ball into the top right of the goal in front of the diving goal tender for MSUB, Krystal Daniels to put the saints up 1-0.

The Jackets would strike back in the 39th minute when Alisa Sagdahl dribbled down the left side of the field, crossed it into the box and Heidi Greenback leaped up for a beautiful header that screamed past the SMU goal tender Gina Cardenas to tie the score at 1-1. It was Greenback's fourth goal of the season.

Going into the half the score would stay at 1-1 with MSUB out shooting SMU 5-2.

As play continued into the second half SMU had two early shot attempts, neither finding its mark. On the Jackets first opportunity would be the game winner. Jessie Mancilla dribbled the ball into the Saint's half and passed the ball to a streaking Agen Heffernan on the right side of the box who took one gorgeous touch then pounded the ball into the bottom left of the net for the first goal of her career and gave the jackets the 2-1 lead.

"We came out with a lot of energy today and we worked hard to get the win," Head Coach Wojtek Krakowiak said. "I am very happy for Agen. Jess played a great diagonal pass to Agen and placed it in the far corner. She showed a lot of confidence and composure. We are excited for Central Washington."

"Today was truly a team effort, Heffernan said. "We had a big drive coming in and had to get a win; we stuck together and took care of business."

The Saints would only manage two more shot attempts in the game as the jackets played smothering defense for the remainder of the game.

The Saints outshot the Jackets 7-5 in the game and lead in corner kicks 5-1.

Krystal Daniels recorded her first win of the season and is now 1-0-1 on the year. Cardenas for SMU is now 3-8.

MSUS improves their record to 4-4-2, and 3-4-1 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play while SMU drops to 3-8 overall and 2-6 in GNAC play.
