BELLINGHAM, WASH.-The Montana State University Billings Women's Soccer team lost a tight game to Western Washington University Thursday, 1-0.
The Jackets showed improvement from the first meeting between the two teams (Sept. 21) when WWU completely dominated winning 4-1, out shooting MSUB 17-5.
This match was more evenly played with WWU outshooting MSUB 13-9 and each team landing five shots on goal.
The lone goal in the match came in the 42nd minute when Delanee Nilles took a shot from 25 yards out which Jacket goalie
Krystal Daniels was unable to stop from going into the upper left corner of the goal to give the Vikings the 1-0 lead and eventually turn into the difference maker for the win.
The Jackets were paced by
Alisa Sagdahl who took three shots with two landing on goal.
Chelsea Shuman had two shots along with
Amanda Perri;
Katlyn Lokay and
Aubrey Briscoe each had one shot on the day.
Daniels had four saves and is now 1-2-1 on the year while Vikings goal tender, Alyssa Beauchamp is 13-1 on the year and had five saves.
The Vikings, ranked No.12 nationally in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll after being No.2 each of the last four weeks, improved to 13-1-0 overall and stayed atop the Great Northwest Athletic Conference at 10-1-0. MSUB, which has lost its last three games, fell to 4-7-2 overall and 3-7-1 in conference play.
