LACEY, Wash. – The Montana State University Billings women's soccer team notched their third win of the season defeating Saint Martin's University, 2-1.

The Yellowjackets improve to 3-3-1 and 2-3 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, while the Saints drop to 2-6 and 1-4 in the GNAC.

"It's great to get a win on the road," MSUB Head coach Wojtek Krakowiak said. "We played very well as a team and pushed very hard to get two goals in the second half. We played very well as a team and did a great job of keeping the ball. I am proud of the girls and it showed how dangerous we can be."

After a scoreless first half the Saints opened up the scoring in the 51st minute when Sara Massee beat the MSU Billings' goalkeeper, Megan Wade, after a long cross from Kelli Bannerman for the assist.

MSUB came roaring back and tied the game after Chelsea Shuman took a shot from 12 yards out and found the left side of the net beating the Saints' keeper Gina Cardenas in the 62nd minute for Shuman's first goal of the season.

The game winner came in the 88th minute when Shuman cleared the ball from the corner to the front of the Saints' goal and Alisa Sagdhal put the ball into the right side of the net from point blank for her third goal of the season.

MSUB outshot SMU 9-6 with both teams having two shots on goal each. The Jackets held the advantage in corner kicks 3-1.

Wade, seeing her first action of the season, notched one save in the win and now has a 1-0 record while the Saints' Cardenas recorded no saves and now has a record of 2-6.

The Jackets travel to Monmouth, Ore., Saturday for a showdown with Western Oregon. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time. The game will have live video and stats on MSUBSports.com.
