PORTLAND, Ore. – Helping the Montana State University Billings men's soccer team to a pair of victories last week, sophomore goalkeeper Tom Lohmann was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference defensive Player of the Week announced by the conference office Monday.
 
"Tom has worked very hard since the beginning of the season and has been instrumental in helping us turn our record around," said MSUB head coach Alex Balog. "He's been outstanding for us so far and I'm very pleased that he's been rewarded for that. Hopefully it'll push him to work even harder and become even better."
 
Lohmann earned his second shutout of the season on Saturday in MSUB's 2-0 victory over South Dakota School of Mines. He made a reaction save on a close-range shot in the first half to prevent a goal in the first half, and another big kick save on a similarly close shot in the second half against the Hardrockers.
 
Against the University of Mary last Thursday, Lohmann totaled five saves including one before halftime that protected MSUB's 1-0 lead on a dangerous scoring opportunity by the Marauders.
 
Lohmann is the first MSUB men's soccer player of the season to take home the conference award. The Yellowjackets will be back in action on the road this week against Seattle Pacific on Thursday and Saint Martin's on Saturday.
