BILLINGS, Mont. – Starting off her college career with an exclamation point, Montana State University Billings freshman
Jessica Spang has been selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 8-14 announced by the conference office Monday.
Spang played a key role in both of the Yellowjackets' goals in a 2-0 win against the University of Sioux Falls on Friday. The Billings native provided an assist to
Alisa Sagdahl on the game-winning goal in the 65th minute, before finding the net for the second goal in the 84th minute.
"Jessica had a strong offensive performance, crossing the ball to
Alisa Sagdahl on the first goal and slotting home a rebound on our second goal," said head coach
Wojtek Krakowiak. "She was very active in the attack all night."
Spang becomes the second-consecutive Yellowjacket to earn the GNAC honor, after Sagdahl was picked the GNAC offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 1-7. Senior goalkeeper
Krystal Daniels earned honorable mention Player of the Week, after recording her first shutout of the season in the 2-0 win.
MSUB kicks off its GNAC schedule this week, with road games against Western Oregon and Saint Martin's on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
