PORTLAND, Ore. – After hitting three of the Yellowjackets' nine home runs in their home-opening series against Saint Martin's last week, Montana State University Billings senior second baseman
Brody Miller has been tabbed as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball co-Player of the Week announced by the conference office Monday.
Â
"Brody had a huge weekend for us," commented MSUB head coach
Rob Bishop. "He was pitched around during a lot of situations but really came up big at the right times. Brody definitely deserves recognition for his weekend."

Miller hit two home runs in Game 1 against Saint Martin's on March 27 and his offensive output helped the Yellowjackets to a 3-1 series victory.
Miller opened the series by going 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBIs as MSUB won the opener over the Saints 11-8. He then drove in a pair of runs in Game 2, helping MSUB to a 9-4 victory and its third-straight doubleheader sweep in GNAC play.
Miller's most important home run of the weekend came in Game 3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the Yellowjackets trailing 8-6 and with two outs, he launched a 3-run blast to dead center field, giving MSUB the lead in an eventual 11-10 victory to extend the team's winning streak to seven-straight games.
Miller finished the weekend hitting 6-for-14 (.429) with eight runs scored, eight RBIs and four extra-base hits. Miller also drew five walks – two of them intentional passes – and struck out just one time in 21 plate appearances on the weekend. On top of his offensive dominance, Miller made 24 plays at second base without committing a single error.
On the season, Miller is batting .357 and is tied for second place in the GNAC in home runs with eight, along with teammate
Luke Reinschmidt. Miller ranks second in the conference in hits (45), walks (21), and total bases (79), third in RBIs (32), fourth in runs scored (29), and fifth in doubles (10).
Miller currently ranks No. 5 all-time in the GNAC in career hits with 229, and is six away from surpassing Greg McCarthy (Western Oregon, 2002-05) for the No. 4 spot.
This is the second-career GNAC Player of the Week honor for Miller, who received the award from April 1-7, 2013. The reigning GNAC Player of the Year and All-American became the fourth player of the season from MSUB to win the GNAC's weekly award, joining Reinschmidt and
Kyle Durbin as Players of the Week and pitcher
Cody Cooper as Pitcher of the Week.
MSUB left-hander
Brady Muller was credited with honorable mention Pitcher of the Week, after striking out 10 batters including the first seven he faced to help MSUB to a Game 1 win over Saint Martin's last week.
Tyler Davis of Northwest Nazarene was the co-Player of the Week, as he also hit three home runs and helped NNU to a 3-1 series victory over conference-leading Western Oregon.
The Yellowjackets (14-17, 9-6 GNAC) are currently one game behind Western Oregon in second place in the conference standings. MSUB is next in action with a single, nonconference home game against Dickinson State on April 8, before resuming GNAC play by hosting Central Washington for four games April 10-11.
