BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State University Billings women's soccer team would finish on the wrong end of the scoreline against Seattle Pacific University, falling 4-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
The Yellowjackets (2-10-5, 2-9-2 GNAC) would show promise going forward, with their 18 shots and eight shots on goal the most the team has attempted in a game since September 3. But the Falcon (10-5-2, 7-4-2 GNAC) would bring more offensive firepower, scoring three goals of their own while an MSUB own goal would give the hosts an additional cushion.
Cesia Swain would attempt a team leading five shots, putting a pair of efforts on goal, while
Jordyn Daigle would shoot four times, placing two efforts on goal.
Vivian Gaither and
Millie Bamer would each place one of their two shots on frame, while
Macee Abraham and
Kolbi Kiblen would each put their lone shots on goal.
Abby Thompson would attempt two shots, and
Cianna Sexton, and
Abby Thompson would each shoot once. In net,
Tenley Leffler finished with four saves.
After the two sides would combine to attempt a single shot in the first ten minutes, Seattle Pacific would attempt four shots in the span of a minute and a half, starting in the 14
th minute and coming to a finish after a cross into the box would find the foot of Raeah Raymondo, who would finish calmly to put the Yellowjackets behind early. The Yellowjackets would then grow into the game offensively, attempting four shots and two efforts on goal in the half, but would be unable to get a goal past and even the score before halftime.
But the hopes of a Yellowjacket would be handicapped in the opening minutes of the second half after an unfortunate own goal would double the Falcon's advantage. MSUB would push hard to find their way on the scoresheet from there, even outshooting SPU 14-4 in total and 6-4 in shots on goal in the final 45 minutes of action. But MSUB would concede twice more down the stretch on crosses into the box, with both goals coming from SPU's Maddie Cooke to seal the loss for MSUB.
