Around the Horn: MSUB Softball senior feature story series - Brittney Sanders, C

2014 (Junior):
First-team all-conference…appeared and started in 39 games with 116 at bats…recorded a .353 batting average and on-base percentage of .397…led the team in slugging percentage with .621, in home runs with seven, in doubles with 10…recorded 209 putouts…had a team-high of 72 total bases…named academic all-conference.
 
2013 (Sophomore): As a sophomore started 34 of 38 games and was selected first-team all-conference as a catcher...batted .326 which produced 13 runs and 31 hits…the .326 batting average put her 12th in the GNAC rankings…fourteen RBIs were fourth in the team stats…struck out only 10 times in 95 at-bats...had a streak of eight games reaching base, which was tied for second on the team...had 10 putouts in one game against Northwest Nazarene March 2, 2013…had a total of 64 putouts for the season with a fielding percentage of .971.

2012 (Freshman): Split time as MSUB's backstop making 19 starts in 23 total games which had her ending the year with a .379 batting average...made 66 official trips to the dish and recorded 25 hits including six doubles and two home runs...had 11 runs batted in for the season and eight runs scored...in the first game of the April 14 doubleheader against Northwest Nazarene, went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, three more batted in and a home run in a 9-4 victory.

Kelso High School: Was a two-sport athlete earning four letters in softball and two on the volleyball court...junior and senior seasons helped KHS to back-to-back Washington State 4A titles in softball...in 2010 was second-team all-league as a catcher and hit .397 with 31 hits, 10 home runs and 35 RBIs...earned second-team all-league honors as a third baseman in her sophomore season and during her freshman year was voted first-team academic all-conference and second-team all-area...was a scholar athlete all four years in both softball and volleyball.
