PORTLAND, Ore. –
Jake Hedge played the 18th hole a total of five times at Pryor Creek Golf Club last week, but it wasn't until the fifth that he claimed medalist honors at the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational after a three-person playoff.
Â
Hedge made eagle on the third time through the playoff hole, and has been selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's Golfer of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday.
Â
"It's great to see Jake rewarded for his hard work with this honor," said MSUB golf head coach
Shawn O'Brien.
Â
Hedge, teammate
Gage Huft and Hunter Anderson of Rocky Mountain College were each tied for first place after two rounds of golf on Friday evening. Each player made par on the playoff 18th hole twice, before Hedge ended the tournament with an eagle on the third time through the hole.
Â
On the tournament, Hedge shot a 69 and a 74, finishing with a 1-under par 143 on the 6,460-yard, par-72 course. Hedge's round of 69 was tied for the lowest on the tournament. His effort helped MSUB to the team title at the event, as the Yellowjackets finished with a 584 (290-294) to top the eight-team field.
Â
The conference honor is the first of the season for Hedge and the MSUB men's golf team.
