BILLINGS, Mont. –
Antoine Hosley set a Great Northwest Athletic Conference single-game scoring record with 50 points on Senior Night, but visiting Central Washington held off Montana State University Billings 104-99 in overtime Saturday night at Alterowitz Gym.

Dom Williams ended the game with 33 points for the Wildcats and Joseph Stroud added 24, as CWU improved to 17-8 on the season and 12-6 in GNAC play.

The Wildcats opened the overtime period strong, using a 7-0 run to jump out to a 92-85 lead. The Yellowjackets fought back but the early deficit proved to be too much as the Wildcats took command inside of two minutes in the extra period.
"I am proud of how hard our guys fought after being in a lull over the last four games," said MSUB head coach
Jamie Stevens. "I thank the guys for the effort they gave me throughout the season. We lost a lot of close games, but they still fought their tails off. I am glad Antoine and Tyler could end their careers with really good individual nights."

The teams were nearly even on the game in shooting percentage, with CWU at 47.9 percent and MSUB at 47.0 percent from the floor. The Wildcats made just 4 of 16 3-point field goal attempts (25.0 percent), while MSUB made 5 of 14 (35.7 percent).

The Wildcats opened the second half with a 13-4 run, taking a 48-46 lead with 15 minutes remaining. Williams helped the 'Cats extend their advantage, scoring five-straight points with a layup and a three that made the score 57-49.

The 'Jackets fought back, and a three by
Jordan Perry with 9:15 remaining tied the score at 61-61. Williams finished a layup on the next possession, but
Jace Anderson hit a huge four-point play to give MSUB a 65-63 edge.

Tyler Nelson hit a pair of big free throws with 1:30 remaining in regulation to pull MSUB within one, 79-78. The senior then grabbed a big rebound on the next possession, and Hosley finished a layup to give the 'Jackets a one-point lead.

Two more makes from the line by
Emmanuel Johnson were followed by one free throw from Williams as the teams pulled even at 84-84. A last-second layup by the 'Jackets was blocked, and time expired before CWU could launce a half-court heave.

Nelson finished the game with 10 points and nine rebounds, and Johnson tacked on a dozen points and eight boards for the 'Jackets. MSUB out-rebounded CWU on the game 36-35, but the Wildcats had 15 assists compared with MSUB's eight.

Hosley opened the game strong, making five of his first seven shots and scoring 12 points early. Nelson grabbed four early boards and had four points as MSUB's seniors helped their team keep pace at 17-17 midway through the first.

MSUB took a 42-35 advantage into the locker room, with Hosley having scored 24 first-half points. The Portland, Ore., native was selected as the St. Vincent Healthcare Player of the Game.

On the game, Hosley made 16 of 25 shots including 2 of 3 from 3-point range and 16 of 18 from the foul line. His 16 makes from the field were two away from the GNAC record of 18, held by Gerrit Eades of Saint Martin's in a game against Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 9, 2002.

THE BUZZ: The previous GNAC record for points in a game was 47, set by Ryan Diggs of Western Washington on March 10, 2006…Hosley became the third player in MSUB history to score 50 points in a game, tying Markus Hallgrimson for the third-best single game mark in school history…Hallgrimson also had a 51-point game, and Reece Gliko holds the MSUB all-time record with 54 points against Southern Oregon State on Dec. 28, 1996…Hosley's 16 makes from the field were two away from the GNAC record of 18, held by Gerrit Eades of Saint Martin's in a game against Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 9, 2002…his 16 made free throws were three away from the single game record of 19, which is also held by WWU's Diggs and Seattle Pacific's Chris Banchero.
